‘BEYOND THE VISIBLE: A SEARCH FOR ART, SCIENCE AND AESTHETICS’

‘In the Light of Art, Following Nature’s Trail…’

Art has always been more than just a form of expression for me; it has been a way of being, an effort to make sense of the universe. Being able to interpret every moment, every sound, every image and convey it to others is one of the greatest values in my life. However, today, this journey has gone beyond the canvas and the camera lens. I am now an artist dedicated to discovering not only human emotions but also the inner codes of nature; blending aesthetics with biology and the visual with sustainability.

My first encounter with art began in my early childhood. I grew up with a desire to observe, to notice what was hidden in the details and beyond the visible. This passion drew me to the essence of art. My undergraduate education in Cinema and Television led me to different art forms such as photography, video production, sound and music design. The master’s programme and workshops I attended at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, combined with industry experience, gave me a unique language of expression in every stage of the creative process, guided by my quest for storytelling. The projects I worked on at the State Theatres also enriched my theatrical journey, adding dramatic arts to my identity. Since 2015, working under the umbrella of the State Theatres, both in plays in the repertoire and at international festivals, as the Director in Charge, being involved in the production process of visual, audio and written materials, has made a difference in my career and perspective with public working principles.

Throughout my career, the foundation of my artistic practice has been to bring together visual and auditory arts, aiming to offer people a deeper experience by strengthening inter-subject relationships. However, my artistic quest has never been confined to studio walls. Between 2012 and 2015, I worked actively within Greenpeace; I went into the field not just as an observer, but as a defender of the planet. These years, during which I wrote projects and was actively involved in fieldwork, taught me a very fundamental truth: nature has its own dramatic structure; fragile yet equally powerful. This period sowed the seeds of my current vision of ‘sustainable art’ and showed me that the most urgent story to be told is that of our ecosystem.

Evolution: Bio-Design and Sustainable Art

Today, Aytan Art is a synthesis of these two worlds: the activist spirit I carried from the Greenpeace field and the aesthetic mastery I honed on stage. I realised that true ‘catharsis’ (purification) is possible not only through emotional release but also by reconnecting with our biological roots and the ecosystem we are part of. In my visual works, I now seek the light of renewable energy and the textures of the living world. In sound design, I listen to the frequencies of nature. In design, I embrace an ecological approach that transforms waste into art (upcycling) and interprets genetic data in an aesthetic language.

My vision: From Darkness to Light…

For me, ‘From Darkness to Light’ is no longer just a metaphor for enlightenment; it is a concrete call for a greener future. It symbolises the transition from consuming the world to sustaining it.

My aim is to transform this platform not just into a place where I exhibit my work, but into a creative process that honours the planet. Whether it’s a photograph, a bio-design project, or a sustainable living workshop, I want to leave a ‘green’ mark on the soul of every viewer I touch and on the world.

I invite you to discover your own reason for being, not separate from nature, but as a vital part of its magnificent cycle.

Let us discover the art of life together.
